Create a strong and attractive wall using ashlar stone blocks. Ashlar blocks are large rectangular blocks of stone sculpted to have square edges and even faces. Ashlar offers a high-quality finish and is generally smooth sawn, six-sided, and then hand rubbed during our expert in-house manufacturing process before being used to build a wall.
These blocks are then typically laid on a 2mm or 3mm mortar bed. Block sizes are up to 450mm long by 300mm high and 100mm thick although Building Stone can produce any size limited only by the size of the raw quarry block.
Available in Great Tew ironstone, and our ever-popular heritage limestones – Bath, Guiting, Oathill and Creeton
We are also able to offer rustication – an architectural technique that gives a visible surface texture to contrast with the smooth squared ashlar.
Ashlar is ideal for new build projects as well as garden landscaping or features.
With our extensive portfolio of natural stone offering a selection of colours and textures suitable for your ashlar walling, you are certain to find the ideal ashlar block for your project.
Our own quarries within the Johnston Quarry Group produce the majority of our ashlar stone. This means we are able to guarantee supply and delivery to all our customers, whatever the size of project.
